Tour groups will fly into Cape Town International airport, via Johannesburg or direct. Flight arrangements are made by guests and accommodations along the tour are discussed, finalised and booked well in advance. (up to 6 months)
A sightseeing drive to Cape Point and around the Cape Peninsula is a “must do” day trip when visiting Cape Town. The Cape Point day trip is one of Cape Town’s top 10 tourist attractions and ranks with the most scenic drives in the world.
The spectacular road, known as Chapman's Peak Drive, hugs the near-vertical face of the mountain, linking Hout Bay to Noordhoek.
Cape Point is still part of the Cape of Good Hope and offers the same scenic magnificence that one would experience at the Table Mountain National Park.
Simon’s Town is South Africa’s naval base. Named after the Governor of the Dutch settlement, Simon van der Stel, the charming little coastal town is beautifully decorated with Victorian style houses. While you might want to just drive through, you will most definitely want to stop off at the Boulder’s Visitor Centre which is situated just around the corner from Simon’s Town, in the Table Mountain National Park.
A lunch stop in the quaint old area of Cape Town known as Kalk Bay. Today, the vibey Kalk Bay, with its hippie-style people, will fill you with fascinating sounds, images and smells of the ocean; its fishermen; fish markets; colourful boats and of course, the smelly seals. Be sure to make the most of your Kalk Bay experience by mingling with the cosmopolitan crowds and eccentric business owners, by shopping for bric-a-brac at one of the many trendy little stores.
Majestic Table Mountain is Cape Town’s iconic landmark which in 2012 was the winner of the modern “Wonders of the World”. Take the cable car to the very top for magnificent views of the Cape.
Your accommodations in Cape Town will be excellent as locals and foreigners continue to create a memorable experience all over the Cape. There is thousands places for choice and vary in price so these details are discussed in our pre planning.
The V&A Waterfront, which attracts roughly 24 million visitors each year, is South Africa’s most-visited destination. With more than 450 stores, you’ll find everything from local designers to big international brands. For crafts and local talent, make sure you pop into the Watershed, and, if it’s art or jewellery you’re after, head over to The Alfred Mall and Pierhead.
The set 14 course Cape Malay and African menu is a taste safari that will transport you from Table Mountain to Timbuktu. This culinary experience is accompanied
by unique interactive traditional entertainment.
Nestled between towering mountains in the beautiful Cape winelands lies the magnificent Franschhoek Valley. This is the food and wine heartland of the country, where splendid wines are grown and our top chefs create international cuisine. Here breath-taking scenery, warm hospitality, world class cuisine and the finest wines all combine to create lasting memories.

Rated one of the leading restaurants in the Franschhoek Valley, already considered one of South Africa’s culinary hot spots, Franschhoek Kitchen’s standards reflect an ethos based on the finest international cuisine – but their hearts are always drawn to the simplicity and pureness of the ingredients they use. This honest approach sees our guests enjoying authentic homemade dishes inspired by the country we live in and the farm we call ‘home’.
As you make your way into Franschhoek you will notice that most of the farms still bear their original French names, some complete with a spectacular Cape Dutch homestead, towering oaks and rolling vineyards. You will find an array of cellars, ranging from quaint boutique wineries that cater for those in search of something unique, to the large cellars that offer visitors organised tours and tastings.
Our tour bus seats 6 guests comfortably with plenty of luggage space. Transport is dependant on the size of the group.
If you would like to experience Great White sharks up close, a stop in Mossel Bay is very worthwhile. It is however dependant on weather conditions and time of the year. In July we were lucky enough to see nearly 16 Great Whites!
The trip from the dock to the shark site is only about ten minutes so there is no long and tedious boat ride. In fact, Mossel Bay has the most accessible white sharks in the world. The bay is also very protected so our sea conditions are normally very calm and comfortable. The crew will provide a briefing concerning the cage diving on the boat.
After a busy afternoon with the sharks we retire to our beach house where we light the fire for a traditional braai barbeque, open a cold beer and watch the sun go down.
We leave Mossel Bay early and head for Addo Elephant National Park in the Eastern Cape. This is about a 4 hour journey east where we stop for lunch and spend the afternoon touring the park.
Addo Elephant National Park is a magnificently diverse national park and offers a wide variety of game viewing, outdoor adventure, accommodation and cultural experiences. The park includes Bird Island and St. Croix Island in Algoa Bay and is home to the Big 7 - Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo, Lion, Leopard, Humpback Whale and Great White Shark.
The last stop on your tour will be at Southern Cross Safaris. This is a malaria free, remote and safe space for family adventures.
The Southern Cross Safaris Ranch, originally named 'Gannahoek' is rich in history and character. It is located 2 hours inland from Port Elizabeth. Known as a jewel hunting destination for first timers to Africa, for family safaris and for the most experienced collectors, this is one of the Eastern Capes most magnificent historical locations. Set on a 15 000 acre property, 'Gannahoek' is dedicated to hunting and the conservation of South Africa's wildlife heritage.
While the hunters maximise their time hunting, non hunters can enjoy some R&R, a daily bushwalk or join the hunt safari.
Our luxury suites are set in the garden of the safari lodge and include wi-fi for your convenience.
Hunting begins early everyday with a midday lunch at the lodge and early evening dinner in the Manor Lodge.
Much of the day is spent walking, stalking and tracking to ensure success on your fairchase hunt in South Africa.
Fairchase free range hunting provides an authentic South African safari. The diverse terrain of mountains, thorny slopes and flat plains makes hunting exclusive and at times challenging.
Our vintage hunting truck has comfortable seating in the back for non hunters and photographers to join in the adventure.
You will see over 20 species of wildlife at South Cross Safaris including the Cape Buffalo and Majestic Sable.
Visit our trophy gallery.
First time hunters to South Africa are in good hands with Chris at your side throughout your hunt.
Most evenings guests sit around the lodge fire and enjoy a single malt whiskey or glass of red wine with wonderful conversation under our clear milky way sky.

Conservation Through Sustainable Utilisation

Southern Cross Hunting sustains 15 000 acres of natural habitat in South Africa. This land is entirely dedicated to over 400 species of fauna and abundant indigenous flora. Hunters in low annual numbers keep herd numbers healthy and allow us to conserve this unique biome for the future of South Africa's wildlife and the future of the people and their families who are dedicated to the work of conservation through hunting.

Southern Cross Hunting employs 15 staff members who support 30+ adult family members and over 25 children.

All the animals harvested on our hunting ranch provide an annual meat supply to our Local Communities, the 70+ people who are directly and indirectly involved with Southern Cross and the needs of our busy lodge.

The value of our visiting hunters is vital.
